There are two zodiacs, Sidereal and Tropical.  The Sidereal zodiac is used by astronomers, Vedic, and Sidereal astrologers.  The Topical zodiac is used by astrologers only.  The difference between the two is eye-opening; your birth chart could look dramatically different depending on which zodiac you use.  And, as all astrology is based on one's birth chart, the zodiac you use will determine what an astrologer can read from your chart.

This means that there could be two rather different personality readings for the same person depending on the zodiac used.  For example, a person born on February 01, 1976, at 10:00 AM, in Washington DC, would be considered an Aquarius in the Tropical zodiac.  But, the same person would be considered a Capricorn in the Sidereal zodiac.  Also, this person's Rising Sign, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto would be in different constellations for the two different zodiacs. 

Futhermore, different zodiacs will impact predictions both in the interpretation and timing of events.  Needless to say, this is a "hot topic"  among astrologers.
